Collection Development

The Collection Development Department of the University of North Texas Libraries is responsible for growing and assessing collections, establishing analysis guidelines, and communicating collection information to stakeholders.  Strategic planning components for the Collection Development Department include:

Objectives

• To define the scope and boundaries of existing collections
• To plan for continuing development of collections
• To facilitate long range planning by providing an outcome-based strategy for selection and withdrawal decisions
• To encourage systematic assessment of stakeholder research needs
• To provide information-based guidelines for the orderly, logical and fiscally responsible development of the Libraries' collections
• To facilitate cooperative collection development through collaborative agreements
