Types of Materials that Circulate
Regular Circulating Collection
Books are the primary material type in the regular circulating collection. The loan period for these materials is determined by the patron type of the individual. The Overdue fines are 35 cents per day to a maximum of $28.00 per item. All users are charged fines except UNT Faculty/Staff, UNTHS-FW Faculty, TWU Faculty, and TAM-C Faculty. Fines on items recalled by another user are $2.00 per day.
Materials in this category include:
- Most books in the UNT Libraries (Willis, Science and Technology, Discovery Park Collection Area, Music, Government Documents)
- Bound periodicals located in Remote Storage
- Computer disks and CD-ROMs located on Reserve
Periodicals
Periodicals are non-circulating materials. However, periodicals in print form may be checked out for short periods of time according to the rules shown below.
Materials in this category include:
- Current periodicals located in the Current Periodicals/Reserve Reading Room, Willis Library; Science and Technology Library; Music Library; Discovery Park Library
- Bound periodicals located in Willis Library, Science and Technology Library, Music Library, Discovery Park Library
Loan periods are:
- Current Periodicals
Faculty - 2 hours, 0 renewals
- Bound Periodicals
Faculty - 1 day, 0 renewals
Graduate Students - 1 day, 0 renewals
Number of periodicals that may be checked out at one time:

Overdue fines are $25.00 per day to maximum of $250.00
Not included in this category of materials are:
- Missing pages that are available from the reserve desks
- Periodicals that are available in microfilm, microfiche, or in an electronic format
- Periodicals in Rare Books and Texana Collections or Archives Collections
Special Materials
There are other materials in the Libraries that do circulate but have different loan period and overdue fines. Checkout of these materials may be limited.

Reserve Materials
Loan periods are determined by the faculty member placing the item on reserve for course materials or by a librarian for other materials.
Loan periods for these materials are:
2 hour & 2 hour Library Use Only Fine: $2.00 per hour; $100 maximum 24 hour Fine: $2.00 per hour; $100 maximum 3 day Fine: $2.00 per day; $100 maximum 7 day Fine: $2.00 per day; $100 maximum 21 day Fine: $2.00 per day; $100 maximum
Renewals are not allowed.
Media Materials
Any identified user of the Libraries may utilize media within the Media Library, whether or not the media is owned by the University, so long as this does not interfere with the U.S. Copyright Law.

Audio Materials
The Audio Center is located on 4th floor, Willis Library as part of the Music Library.

CMC Materials
This collection contains the current Texas State Adopted Textbooks for grades K-12 and supports the courses in the College of Education. It is located on the Lower Level of Willis Library.
The loan period for all users is 7 days with 1 renewal. The overdue fine is $2.00 per day with $100.00 maximum for each item.
Juvenile Materials
This collection is located on the Lower Level of Willis Library and contains fiction and non-fiction material for K-12.

There are materials in all collections designated at "Non-Circulating". These materials may be checked out only when approved by authorized personnel.
