Reserve Information for Students


 Finding Reserve Materials

All reserve materials are listed in the UNT Library Catalog.  To find the location of specific materials

  • Click on Course Reserves
  • Search by Course or by instructor's name
  • Once you have found the item you want, take the call number to the appropriate Reserve Desk.

Location of Reserve Materials

  • Willis Library Reserve/Current Periodicals Reading Room, located on 1st floor of Willis Library, houses reserve items for courses in the humanities or social sciences.
  • The Music Library Service Desk and the Audio Center, both located on 4th floor of Willis Library, houses reserve items for music courses.
  • The Science and Technology Library Circulation Desk houses reserve items for courses in science and technology.
  • The Library Collection Area, Discovery Park room M130, houses reserve items for courses in engineering, computer science, materials science, engineering technology and library and information sciences.
  • The UNT Dallas Center Circulation Desk houses video reserve items for courses taught at the Dallas Center. Other reserve material should be in electronic form.
  • Regardless of the course being taught, all Media Library items on reserve (except those at the Dallas Center) are located at the service desk of the Media Library.
  • Electronic Reserves are accessed through the UNT Library Catalog.

Loan Periods

Loan periods for reserve items are specified by the instructor from the following options:

  • 2 hours
  • 2 hours, library use only
  • 1 day
  • 3 days
  • 7 days
  • 21 days

Electronic Reserves

Instructors have the option of placing articles or chapters from books on reserve in electronic format instead of paper format. Only one option can be chosen. If material are on electronic reserve, they cannot also be placed on reserve in paper format. If the material is copyrighted, the professor must provide a password that students will use in accessing the document. In order to view material on electronic reserves, students must enter their EUID and password as well as the password designated by the professor.

To access Electronic Reserves -

  • Click on Course Reserves
  • Search by Course or by instructor's name
  • Click on the title needed
  • Sign in with your name, your EUID, your password, and the course password. The password must be given to you by the faculty member teaching the course.
  • When the above information is entered correctly, you will see the PDF for the article.
  • If you have additional articles to read, use the back button to return to the Library Catalog.
  • When you are finished, please exit from the browser if you are using a public PC. This is to protect your personal information.
