Information for Distance Learning Students
Eligibility for Services
These services are available to students enrolled in UNT distance learning courses (off-campus) and students enrolled at the UNT Dallas Campus. Distance learning services are not available to students on the UNT campus, who live near Denton or to persons not affiliated with UNT. Distance learning occurs as a portion of the standard contact hours of a course and is an organized teaching/learning event which may take place outside of the physical presence of the instructor. Distance learning is technology based and can either be synchronous (with the instructor and learners working together concurrently in time) or asynchronous (with the instructor and learners working at various times).
Borrowing Materials
Students enrolled in a distance learning class may request regular, circulating books and journal articles that are available at the UNT Libraries to be sent to them. There is no charge for this service. A mailer, along with packing materials is provided to return books. If available, UNT-owned materials are generally sent out within 48 hours; articles are e-mailed as a PDF file, faxed or mailed, while books are sent Express Mail through the U.S. Post Office. Notification will be sent for materials that are not available.
PLEASE CHECK THE ON-LINE CATALOG AND THE ELECTRONIC RESOURCES AVAILABLE FIRST BEFORE SENDING A REQUEST!
