1. What are reserves?

Reserves are materials selected by faculty as required or recommended reading for their courses.

2. Where are reserve items located?

Reserve materials are listed in the UNT Library Catalog.  The location of specific items will be listed there.  Some reserves are electronic and are accessible through the UNT Library Catalog.

3. How do I find reserve items?

Go to the UNT Library Catalog.  Click on the Course Reserves button.  You can search by course number or by instructor's name.

4. Are textbooks on reserve?

The only textbooks on reserve are those placed there at the request of the instructor.

5. How do I access electronic reserves?

Go to the UNT Library Catalog.  Click on the Course Reserve button.  Search for the item you need by Course or by Instructor's Name.  When you find the item you want, click on the title.  You will be asked for your name, ID number, PIN and course password.  Explanations for each are located on the page.

6. What is a course password?

A course password is needed to access electronic reserves.  This password is determined by the instructor of the class.  It is the responsibility of the instructor to give it to members of the class. Libraries' staff can not provide the password.

7. How long can I keep a reserve item checked out?

The instructor determines the checkout period for reserve items.  The choices given to  the instructors are 2 hours, 2 hours building use only, 24 hour, 3 day and 7 day.

8. Can I renew reserve items?

No, reserve items may not be renewed.

9. What is the fine rate for reserve items?

The fine rate is $2.00 per hour for 2 hour and 24 hour reserve items.  The fine rate is $2.00 per day for 3 day and 7 day reserve items.  See Circulation Policies for specifics.
