2:30 p.m.

The University Library Committee met in Willis Library, Room 229 at 2:30 p.m. with the following in attendance: Donald Grose, Melody Kelly, John Murphy, Denis Paz, Susan Paz, Rick Reidy, Michel Sirvent, and John Todd. Also attending was guest Diane Wahl.

Clear Budget Message – Susan Paz/Melody Kelly

LibQual update by Diane Wahl.

Approval of the minutes of the prior meeting (April 15, 2005) were tabled until the next meeting.

Diane Wahl, Project Management Librarian, was introduced by Melody Kelly to those present. Diane Distributed the 2005 LibQUAL+TM Survey Results and explained the various charts and results. There will be a LibQUAL site on the Libraries web page under About the Libraries. This is part of the Strategic Planning Information the libraries are working on for this summer.

Susan Paz distributed detailed budget scenarios based on Libraries Expenditures by Source and effect of semester credit hour count and library use fee. The handout included revenue comparisons with our counterparts University of Houston-University Park, Texas A & M, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Austin and Texas Tech University.

The clear budget message is that UNT cannot afford to fall behind in our research support efforts.

Reidy inquired whether there is a need to meet this summer. The next meeting will be in August or early September.
