Libraries Facilities
- Those buildings and areas recognized and identified as being a part of the University Libraries under the supervision of the Dean of Libraries are public buildings/areas accessible for study as well as use of library resources.
- Any individual may use materials within the guidelines established by the libraries within the appropriate buildings/areas. Materials are checked out only to persons with proper and authorized identification.
- Library staff members have the authority to request proper identification of patrons for cause. Patrons unwilling to provide such identification may be requested to leave the buildings/areas after the University Police have been notified.
- Irregularities which cannot be handled by the library staff on duty should be reported immediately to the University Police.
- Facilities within the Libraries are generally organized for individual use, however, normal conversational noise levels are permitted for reference and library service purposes. Loud, disruptive behavior is not acceptable. Proper steps will be followed to discourage this behavior. At all times library users should be considerate of others using the facilities. See Policy Memorandum #22 for specific noise policies.
- Instruction in the use of the Libraries' facilities and resources is available to an individual at the at the Libraries' service desks; instruction is available to groups by advance request only through the Office of User Education.
- Limited areas are available of posting of public notices. Any request for such postings should be sent to the Administrative Offices, 2nd floor Willis Library. A department may post items of interest to the staff of that department on departmental bulletin boards. It is the general policy of the University that "nothing may be posted on doors, walls, windows, trees, or other surfaces on the campus."1

Head phones should be used with any CD players, Ipods, laptops or any other device that produce noise. The noise from the headphones should not be audible to others.
- Library users with laptops should not interfere with aisles by plugging the power cord in outlets other than those available in the furniture.
