Position Announcement: Dean, University Libraries

The University of North Texas (UNT) announces a nationwide search to recruit a new Dean for its University Libraries.  We seek an academic leader with experience, vision and drive to lead dynamic University Libraries.  The position is open beginning fall 2009.

The Dean is responsible for handling fiscal and personnel matters; providing strategic, entrepreneurial, organizational adaptation, and visionary leadership for the Libraries, and fostering excellence in teaching, research, and service. The Dean is the primary advocate for the Libraries within the University and at regional, national, and international levels, actively participating in outreach, marketing, and development. The successful candidate must demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in the areas above, have a record of substantial administrative experience in academic/research libraries and/or urban library system, hold an ALA-accredited degree plus an additional graduate degree, have a record of scholarly research and publications, and exhibited leadership in professional associations. The successful candidate must also exhibit commitment to equity and diversity, shared governance, developing and maintaining strong cooperative relationships, and support of distributed learning and innovative information technology implementation.
